The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton ("the Eparchy", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our website or contacts us. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights under Canadian privacy law.
1. What information we collect
Form submissions
When you submit an RSVP registration or a contact form on this site, we collect the information you provide directly: your name, email address, and any event preferences or notes you choose to include. Phone numbers are optional and collected only when you supply them. We do not collect payment information through our own forms; donations are handled entirely by CanadaHelps (see section 4).
Server logs
Our web servers automatically record standard access logs that include IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and request timestamps. This is a routine part of operating any web server and is not used to identify you personally. Server logs are retained for no longer than 30 days, after which they are deleted.
Analytics (only with your consent)
If you consent to analytics cookies when you visit the site, we collect anonymised data about which pages you view and how you interact with the site. This data is used solely to understand which content serves our community best and to improve the site over time. We do not build advertising profiles, track you across unrelated websites, or sell this data to anyone.
2. Why we collect it
We collect personal information only for the following purposes: to respond to your enquiries, to confirm and manage event registrations, to send you a confirmation email when you register for an event, and (with your consent) to measure which pages and resources are most useful to our community so we can improve them over time.
We do not use your information for direct marketing, do not share it with advertisers, and do not sell it to any third party.
3. How long we retain it
RSVP registration records are kept for one year after the event date and then permanently deleted. Contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry and then deleted. Server logs are deleted after 30 days. Analytics data is subject to the retention settings of the analytics platforms we use: Google Analytics 4 data is typically retained for up to 14 months; Plausible Analytics (if enabled) retains aggregate data but stores no personal identifiers.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the services described above:
- Resend processes outbound transactional email on our behalf, including event registration confirmations. Resend does not use your email address for any other purpose.
- CanadaHelpshandles all donation payment processing and issues official tax receipts. If you make a donation, your payment and contact information is governed by CanadaHelps' privacy policy, not this one.
- Google Analytics receives anonymised usage data if you consent to analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy for details on which cookies are set and how to opt out.
We do not sell personal information to any third party, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.
5. Your rights under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA)
Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) gives you the following rights with respect to personal information the Eparchy holds about you:
- Right to access the personal information we hold about you, and to receive it in a portable format on request.
- Right to correction if the information we hold is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain certain records.
- Right to withdraw consentfor analytics at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
