About St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church
St. John the Baptist Parish in Lamont grew from Ukrainian Catholic families who originally travelled to Chipman, Star, and Skaro for services. Home liturgies celebrated by Basilian priests led to parish organization in 1940.
The parish acquired land behind the school in 1941 and purchased a school building for church use the same year. Its history is closely connected to the Basilian Fathers in Mundare and includes priestly, episcopal, and religious vocations.
