About Ascension of Our Lord Parish

Ascension of Our Lord Parish in New Kiew is a historic Ukrainian Catholic parish rooted in the first Ukrainian settlement wave of the early 1900s. Home-based Divine Liturgies began in 1903, followed by a St. Nicholas chapel in 1910 and a church completed in 1918 and blessed by Bishop Nykyta Budka in 1920.

The parish has been served by generations of Basilian and Eparchial clergy and has long been part of rural Catholic life near Lavoy and Two Hills. Its history also includes the nearby Ivan Franko national hall, built in 1929 as a community gathering place.
